Sacajawea Festival, Cloverport  September 1-4, 2010
The citizens of Cloverport honor the Native American woman, Sacajawea, the first week he success of the Corps of Discovery expedition led by Meriwether Lewis and William Clark in 1805-1806 to explore the new addition of the Louisiana Purchase to the United States. Although Sacajawea never was in Cloverport, Lewis and Clark probably did stop in the Cloverport community known then as Joeville on their way to St. Louis from Pittsburgh.
